The weight of the tungsten rod assembly is 31.3 grams, (1.10 oz.). Fits the 2-165 grain .40 S&W cartridge. Or a hair less than 3 - 115 grains of 9mm.
OEM bar weight is 12.2 grams, (0.43 oz.). Equivalent to JHP 1 - 124 grain 9mm cartridge.
I got this "G43 Reduced Power Guide Tungsten Rod", for my G48. The G48 is already 2 ounces heavier than the G43X, and all of those 2 ounces are at the muzzle. So I don't want to carry that burden.

I bought this because the OEM guide rods seem loose and mine seem bent at the ends. This is strong and weighs three times as much. I choose water power reduction, because I am already 67 years old and plan to have a gun for the rest of my life.
Works great, the G48 was easier to load after the S&W shield 9, 2.0, (not the EZ), now it's easier then.
